Father’s Day

Father’s Day has always been a strange holiday for me.  I am sure it is because my father passed away when I was very young and my mother never remarried.

I never really celebrated Father’s Day until I had children, which was a 25 year wait.  During those 25 years, I imagined what it would be like to be a father.  Would I play catch with my kids, go to their games, dance recitals, graduations, etc.?  Since I never experienced these moments with my own father, I promised myself that I would do as much as possible to be there for my kids during these precious moments.

Thankfully, I am blessed with 4 terrific kids and I have been able to share many of these cherished moments with them and have even coached many of their sports teams.

So, when it comes to Father’s Day, I appreciate the fact that I can finally enjoy in the celebration of it, despite receiving the silly presents that the kids conjure up.

I hope you had a great Father’s Day!
