For the past 17 years, Richard Lyons has litigated complex matters in Arizona state and federal courts. Richard has recovered millions of dollars for his clients in cases against state and local governments, public and private prisons, healthcare institutions, insurance companies, public and private schools, and other entities and the individuals they employ who have harmed his clients and their families. The claims Richard has litigated include wrongful death, catastrophic injuries, civil rights violations, professional malpractice, sexual misconduct, negligent hiring and retention, physical abuse and financial exploitation of vulnerable adults, and civil forfeiture. Richard receives numerous referrals from his fellow attorneys, and he litigates select cases where the harm to his clients is substantial and the corporate or government conduct is egregious. Some of Richard’s recent cases involve claims against the VA healthcare system and private prisons.
Richard also practices in the area of family law including divorce, cases with complex asset valuation and debt allocation, contested child custody and parenting time, minor child relocation and interstate custody, preparation of pre- and post-nuptial agreements, and all other family court matters. Because of his experience in both family and civil courtrooms, Richard if often asked to litigate contested guardianship, conservatorship, trust, and probate matters.
Richard received his undergraduate degree from Arizona State University, and his law degree from the University of Arizona. Richard is a member of the American Association for Justice, the Arizona Association for Justice, and the Family Law Section of the Arizona State Bar.
